Newsys Review: Uptime

While choosing any web host, it is imperative to check the uptime that they guarantee. While many web hosting companies offer 99%+ uptime, it is noteworthy that Newsys offer 99.9% uptime. But what exactly does this indicate?

Uptime denotes an approximate time graph for the period for which the servers may go down.

You can check a detailed description of the uptimehere. The more the uptime, the more reliable is the web hosting service. And a 99.9% uptime is excellent to go for as it offers a pretty fast and reliable service with negligible possibilities of the servers going down for a more significant time.

Newsys uptime

This steady uptime is backed by Litespeed, which is supposed to offer the best web servers. Also, the control panel is managed via cPanel. With all these powerful tools, it is very evident that they have vast plans and services for their customers.

There’s also a 24*7 chat window that pops up. It has support personnel at the other end for all your queries or questions. You may try contacting them for any sort of questions or problems.

There will be a notification as soon as someone is available to discuss your issue or if the support is away due to some reason.

There’s also a dedicated FAQ page in case a question is too general or one amongst the frequently asked ones.

Newsys Review: Conclusion

In a nutshell, Newsys is excellent and is definitely worth the shot. It is fast, reliable, and very appealing. With amazing features and an excellent uptime of 99.9%, it is quick. Also, there’s a 30-day money-back guarantee in case things don’t work out as expected. They have excellent customer support available that is also a plus point.

The only downside is that they have no dedicated solutions for server related issues.

Hosting.co.uk Review: 7 Pros & 4 Cons After Using It!

It’s always nice to explore hosting companies that are more country-specific, and Hosting.co.uk is a great example of one.

Hosting.co.uk was founded in 2012, making it younger than some of the really big names in hosting.

But, since its founding, it’s become one of the largest hosts in the United Kingdom.

So now it’s time to wonder: did Hosting.co.uk earn its popularity? Maybe there weren’t any better competitors? Or it’s just luck?

And is it even worth considering if you don’t live in the UK?

I’ll answer all those questions, and more, right now.

Let’s start with what the good parts about Hosting.co.uk are:

Hosting.co.uk: Pros

Pro #1: Good performance

Performance is essential to evaluating hosts.

Luckily, Hosting.co.uk has no real problems with performance—quite the contrary!

Hosting.co.uk guarantees 99.9% uptime for its web hosting plans. That sounds good, but actually translates to more downtime than you’d think.

The good news, though, is that this is just the bare minimum that Hosting.co.uk guarantees.

In reality, uptime is much better than 99.9%, with downtime being a very rare occurrence.

Additionally, some of the higher tiers have 99.99% uptime guarantees, which is much better.

And as an added bonus, response times are pretty good, too!

Plus, British customers will be happy to hear that Hosting.co.uk uses a data center in the United Kingdom to power its plans:

hosting.co.uk-datacenter

Having your host’s data center so close by will keep your site fast.

Pro #2: Nice array of hosting products

In this review, I’m mostly focusing on the mainstream hosting products that Hosting.co.uk offers, and of them, I’m mostly focusing on the web hosting plans (that’s what most of you are interested in).

But, it never hurts to have options.

So while Hosting.co.uk has the mainstream forms of hosting that most hosts offer:

hosting.co.uk-types of hosting1

It also has these:

hosting.co.uk-types of hosting2

These aren’t types of hosting in the deeper, structural sense that the first list is defined by. These are variations of managed solutions for certain software and content management systems (CMS).

Many hosting companies will offer managed WordPress hosting (or otherwise WordPress-friendly un-managed hosting), but that’s often the extent of it.

Some hosts will list CMS software like above, and advertise as if they offer individualized hosting tailor-made for each software.

But these lists are typically exaggerated: they usually just list software that CAN be installed on a hosting plan. But these CMS’s can be installed on almost any host, so it’s not really a unique feature.

But here’s how Hosting.co.uk stands out:

Each of these comes with their own set of plans. Meaning, they’re actually unique products, with their own prices and support for the specified software.

Fundamentally, the features for this second list of solution-based hosting are similar, though there are some differences. The key thing here is having support for a certain kind of software.

But that’s great news for people who are looking into making more unique kinds of sites (like forums or social networks, for example), but who lack expertise and resources.

Pro #3: Low prices.

Let’s look at the starting prices for the four main hosting products offered:

hosting.co.uk-prices-general

These are low starting prices across the board.

For example, web hosting typically starts at closer to $4 a month, and VPS hosting often starts at closer to $20 a month.

Even when you take into account the exchange rate from British to American currency, these products still start cheaper than the norm.

But, it’s even better than the starting prices. Let me show you what I mean—using the web hosting plans as an example:

hosting.co.uk-prices-web hosting

Most hosting companies advertise a low starting price, but there are important caveats to it:

First, the price per month usually only applies to up-front purchases of 2 or more years of commitment. When paying for even just a year, the price rises.

Secondly, the price typically renews at significantly higher cost after the first term of use expires.

But hosting.co.uk doesn’t do either of these things for its web hosting prices:

Instead, the low prices stay the same after the first term expires.

hosting.co.uk-price-lock

And, the low prices are still low even if you pay for just a year, instead of more. In fact, the prices above are for MONTHLY payments—which are more expensive in the long run, but not that much more so.

Note, however, that only the shared web hosting has the option of monthly payments.

Reseller, VPS, and dedicated hosting do not—but they DO have the price lock guarantee.

So Hosting.co.uk doesn’t just have lower starting prices—it has lower prices OVERALL, is more straightforward about pricing, and is more flexible in how it allows customers to pay.

Pro #4: Overall, good features

I’m mostly talking about the web hosting plans here, but it’s true for all plans.

Basically, Hosting.co.uk isn’t loaded with features, but has the offerings that we’ve come to expect out of decent plans.

And with the price taken into account, the feature sets are even better.

But let’s look at the shared web hosting plans first:

hosting.co.uk-features-web hosting

Overall, these are pretty solid features.

10GB of storage space may not sound like a lot, but it’s actually pretty good for the price and for an entry-level plan. Most people on these beginner plans won’t need all that space.

One unique point is that you can actually run 2 sites on the first plan. This is super rare—almost every other hosting company limits you to 1 site on their entry-level plan.

Otherwise, most of these things are standard, but solid. Frankly, once you have hosting and 1-click installs and cPanel in there, it’s not too hard to set up a site as you want.

Also, there are some nice security features:

hosting.co.uk-features-web hosting2

Plus, daily backups are included for FREE on all tiers and an anti-spam tool is included for all tiers as well.

And lastly, the web hosting plans are actually cloud-based, making them a step above the typical web hosting plans of competing services.

So the web hosting plans are definitely well-featured for the prices. And the other plans are, too.

Pro #5: Eco-friendly hosting

Some of you may know that hosting is not an environmentally-friendly business. Data centers use tons of energy and contribute to carbon emissions.

But for the most part, this is just considered an unfortunate fact of life. A handful of hosts here and there try to be better for the environment (GreenGeeks comes to mind), but they’re rare.

And apparently, Hosting.co.uk is one of those few hosts!

These are a couple of the concrete measures they take:

hosting.co.uk-eco friendly

It may not be the most important thing to all of you reading this. But many people would appreciate the opportunity to ease their conscience.

And if you’re already pretty interested in the types of products Hosting.co.uk offers, why not choose the host that’s good for the environment?

Pro #6: Good customer support

Customer support is a strong point of Hosting.co.uk, one that the company emphasizes a lot.

And it shouldn’t come as a surprise: if you remember my discussion of the different hosting products offered, support is a key part of that.

So yes, customer support representatives are very good—they’re helpful, responsive, and easy to contact:

hosting.co.uk-support-ticket

But what about the informational support material?

It’s not as good, but still solid:

hosting.co.uk-support-knowledge base

It mostly consists of the knowledge base. My main qualm is that I think there could be more articles:

If you take a quick look at the article counts for each topic category, it’s not that many articles for the array of services that Hosting.co.uk offers.

The articles themselves are usually solid, but sometimes they can be pretty short.

Still, the knowledge base is overall a good resource anyway. So all in all, Hosting.co.uk has pretty solid customer support!

Pro #7: Hosting.co.uk has Secure data centers

Hosting.co.uk may be limited in its number of data centers, but it secures those data centers well. The data centers themselves are state of the art.

But on top of that:

hosting.co.uk-security

Not to mention, advanced network monitoring is used 24/7.

I won’t lie to you: this is what you should expect of hosting companies, and it’s not that exceptional. BUT, it’s a relief to see nonetheless.

Hosting.co.uk: Cons

Con #1: Confusing info on site

I promise this is related to the main point—but let’s look at the cloud hosting plans for a sec:

confusing info

Looks pretty good, right?

Those prices are super low—in fact, they’re about the same as the web hosting prices, but for a higher quality form of hosting!

Except…they’re not “about” the same as the web hosting prices. They’re the same prices, and they have the same features.

And if you look at the FAQ section of the cloud hosting page…

FAQ

But, SOME parts of the cloud hosting page are different from the web hosting page.

So was there formerly a cloud package that Hosting.co.uk dropped, and they forgot to update the site?

OR is there a cloud hosting package that has content jumbled in from the shared page, and they forgot to update it?

Well, my friends, the answer is that the web hosting IS cloud hosting (which makes the web hosting even more impressive).

But you would have no idea of that from the site–I only know it because I talked with the company to figure it out.

If such a major point can be unclear on the website, then it’s very possible some minor details you’re interested in could be outdated as well. Or, there could be attractive features not listed.

Con #2: Some limits on premium hosting

This won’t be an issue for most people reading this. Hosting.co.uk’s VPS and dedicated plans are still pretty high-powered:

hosting.co.uk vpshosting.co.uk dedicated

However, if you’re looking for a plan that can support a very resource-intensive site or project, Hosting.co.uk still may not go far enough with these plans.

With the VPS plans (the first image), the highest tier is 4GB of RAM. But companies offering high-powered VPS or cloud plans may go up to 64GB of RAM, or even more.

It’s a similar story with CPU cores—the limit here is 2 cores for the VPS plans, but other companies can go into the dozens. Repeat with storage, too.

With the dedicated plans (the second image), the storage totals are impressive. BUT, the latter two plans, despite supporting a lot of storage, its HDD storage.

This is an older storage method that doesn’t perform as well as SSD storage, which the first two plans offer.

And other hosts that go big on dedicated plans will also offer more RAM or CPU cores on their higher tiers.

And lastly, hosts that put more priority in heavy-handed hosting plans like VPS or dedicated will often have more flexible, customizable billing and feature-setup.

Don’t get me wrong: most resource-intensive sites will still be well supported by Hosting.co.uk’s existing plans. And many hosts offer a range similar to Hosting.co.uk.

But people who need to max out on resources will need to look at other hosts that specialize more in premium forms of hosting.

Con #3: May not be ideal for non-UK or non-European customers

I write this as an American, and I recognize that this complaint can be levied against American hosting companies as well.

Nonetheless, it’s a point of note. Obviously, Hosting.co.uk is great if you live in the UK, or nearby.

That’s because its data centers are located right in the UK:

datacenter

But if you’re working in a different continent, you may want a host with data centers closer to you for better performance.

Though, that being said, Hosting.co.uk still performs well even if you live outside the UK!

Do we recommend Hosting.co.uk?

Now comes Hosting.co.uk’s moment of truth:

Yes, we do recommend it!

But first, the exceptions: if you’re not in Europe, and want closer data centers, that’s one restriction.

Second, some may prefer companies with more high-end solutions, or value plans that load up on features for the lowest price point.

But outside of that, Hosting.co.uk is a great option. It performs well, offers a variety of hosting products, has good support, decent features, and is great when it comes to pricing.

But if you’re not sure…just try it!

money back

Happy hosting!

How to Boost eCommerce Store Sales with Sendinblue Email Plugin for Shopify

Let’s talk about Sendinblue Email Plugin for Shopify.

But first, hear me out:

So you’ve got Shopify: a great ecommerce site builder that comes with most of what you need in one software you can access from the browser.

But, while Shopify is very powerful, and comes with some basic tools for marketing, a true effort at boosting sales will see investment in more robust marketing tools.

Sendinblue is one of those tools—and the best bit of news for us right now is that it can integrate with Shopify.

In short, integrating Sendinblue with Shopify greatly improves your ability to engage contacts and customers, without complicating your Shopify store management much.

But let’s talk a little more about that:

Why should I integrate Sendinblue with Shopify?

So: you’ve got your Shopify store. Shopify is powerful and easy to use, and gives you a lot of features for making your store great.

But, if you want to really make your store grow, it’s good to take advantage of Shopify’s array of plugins, or third party extensions that give you additional features.

With Sendinblue, you can use a bunch of features to build and engage your audience, and get them to your site.

These features include building sign-up forms, keeping track of what people are doing when they visit your site, and of course, contacting customers directly via email or SMS (yes, you can do both).

The integration means you can sync information from your Shopify site to your Sendinblue account.

So you don’t need to start from square one if you already have some things set up on your Shopify account (like contact lists). And you can continue to operate your Shopify store as you would otherwise—just with an additional tool that will continue to take in information from your store.

If you’re not convinced, there are two more points I need to mention:

First: Sendinblue has a free tier. And while the free plan isn’t as fully featured as the paid ones (obviously), it still can do quite a lot—and you can still send out 300 emails a day.

Second: Sendinblue focuses a lot on email. So Sendinblue devotes personnel and resources to making sure its emails can deliver—if they didn’t, they’d be out of business.

So the other great benefit of integrating, is that you can make sure email marketing for your store always lands right in the inbox, and not spam folders.

Ready? Let’s dive into how this all actually works:

How to add Sendinblue Email Plugin

First things first: do you have a Sendinblue account? If so, great!

If not, there are a couple options: one is, you can make an account on Sendinblue’s website before starting this. Alternatively, you can set up the plugin first, and then make an account when prompted to.

Note: Remember, making an account with Sendinblue is totally free.

Otherwise, we can start with Shopify. All you have to do is head over to the plugins page on Shopify, also known as the Shopify App Store:

Sendinfblue Email Plugin

Find the Sendinblue plugin by using the search function. If the developer’s name is Sendinblue, you’ve got the right one:

Sendinfblue Email Plugin

Then click the “add app” button. You’ll just need to grant some necessary permissions for the plugin to work:

Sendinfblue Email Plugin

Once the app has been installed, you’ll need to do some basic set up. If you have a Sendinblue account, you just need to click a simple button allowing Sendinblue to access your Shopify account.

If you don’t, you can make an account at this point.

Once your Sendinblue account is set up, you need to then grant Shopify permission to access your Sendinblue account (previously, you had to do it the other way around):

Sendinfblue Email Plugin

You’ll then just need to do a final activation from within your Sendinblue account, which you’ll be directed to:

Sendinfblue Email Plugin

And then you’re all good!

From here, you can get started with the basics:

Sendinfblue Email Plugin

Hint: you’ll always be able to get to the page shown above from the “Apps” tab in your Shopify dashboard:

Sendinfblue Email Plugin

Now, let’s cover how you can actually use the plugin with it installed.

How should I use the Sendinblue Email Plugin?

The possibilities are kind of limitless—but the basics would be something like this:

  • Syncing and managing contacts
  • Track visitor behavior
  • Target emails and newsletters based on your contact management
  • Create and sync sign-up forms.

These are the things you’d do with an email marketing software anyway. In other words, you should use the plugin almost exactly as you’d use Sendinblue alone.

Only now, you get to fully combine it with Shopify.

So, for syncing contacts, there’s very little you have to do more than once:

Sendinfblue Email Plugin

As you can see, all you need to do is 1) allow syncing, and 2) set basic preferences to the nature of this syncing.

You can always readjust this later, but for the most part, you won’t need to bother with it after setting it up.

If you’ve already been using Shopify for a while, you may already have some work done in terms of contact segmentation and lists. That’s fine! The point of the plugin is to integrate without hassle.

So you can import lists to Sendinblue, rearrange things as needed, etc. Best yet, you can direct new signups to be automatically recorded in lists within Sendinblue, so you don’t have to import in the future.

There ARE more advanced contact sync settings, but I’ll get to them later.

Anyway, tracking visitor behavior is similarly easy.

You only have to set your preferences once, and then you can use that data, specific to your store, to send out email marketing campaigns with much more precision than before.

Once again, it’s basically an on/off button:

Sendinfblue Email Plugin

Then save your preferences, and you’re done. Easy-peasy: now you can just check out the tracked data without having to adjust preferences further.

One note: make sure that you’ve enabled that second option, “actions related to an abandoned cart.”

This will make it significantly easier for you to recover lost sales, as you’ll be able to use this data to contact customers who abandoned your shop while still having something in their cart.

This can be automated (more on that here), but for that to work, abandoned cart actions have to be tracked—so that second checkbox has to be clicked.

Now, one of the big uses of the integration is to use Sendinblue to manage confirmations. Ie., the response when someone completes a form on your site.

For the most part, this is still a simple process. However, it may require more thought than syncing contacts and allowing visitor tracking:

Sendinfblue Email Plugin

You can go for a double confirmation, or a simple confirmation.

The double confirmation, as the form here describes, includes a validation link in the follow-up email that must be clicked to actually add a person to a list.

But it’s not just these two options that require a little more work on your end. You also can get more creative here, as you can create and save confirmation templates to be used.

In fact, if you look at the dropdown menu in the screenshot above, any templates you create and save will appear there. In this case, it’s the default template.

You can create and manage email templates very easily. In fact, there’s a whole section in the Sendinblue dashboard for it:

Sendinfblue Email Plugin

You can always edit your existing templates here as well.

But anyway, these are the basic uses of the integration. There is more you can do, and doing these basic things will lead to more advanced actions.

For example, you can go from default sign-up confirmations and sign-up forms to more advanced and customized ones. You can use tracking, once enabled, to have better ideas for organizing contacts and even customizing your site within Shopify. The possibilities go on.

Other tips for Sendinblue Email Plugin

Check your Sendinblue settings and account setup as well.

While it’s true that, for the most part, the essential settings are the integration-related ones that I showed you above, it’s still good to make sure your Sendinblue account is as well-equipped as it can be.

To do that, you should tinker around your Sendinblue settings. The settings themselves have very useful features:

Sendinfblue Email Plugin: Settings

For example, isn’t having a test list of contacts for draft campaigns a neat feature to have? And that’s just one.

Tip #2: Check out the “map attributes” button when syncing contacts

You’d do this when you want to manually assign attributes, rather than auto-assign store contacts’ attributes to Sendinblue.

The default option is to have contact attributes from your store auto-assigned. So you just have to unclick that box:

Contact Sync

And then click the “map attributes,” button, which will let you choose what attributes you want to import and map to Sendinblue.

Mapping Data

There are four selected for importing by default, which are highlighted in blue. But there are 14 others available for selection.

Additionally, you can create a new attribute quite easily, from the dropdown menus on the right:

Crew new attribute

As you can see, this will let you sync contacts with more precision, allow you to work more efficiently, and ultimately target your audience much better.

Tip #3: Set up transactional messages

Transactional messages are one of the great features Sendinblue offers, and are great for boosting your Shopify store’s sales.

Transactional messages are basically automated messages that get sent once a contact or customer does a specified action.

So, for example, remember what I said about abandoned carts and tracking data related to them? One use for that data is to have a transactional email that will automatically deliver when a customer abandons a cart. In this case, the cart abandonment is the specified action.

Another example? You saw it earlier, with the opt-in confirmation forms. It’s triggered automatically when someone completes a form on your site.

There are multiple ways of setting up transactional emails with Sendinblue, but the good news here is that the feature integrates smoothly with Shopify.

You will need to do some configuration to make sure that the Sendinblue plugin supports the feature in connection with your store management software (in this case, Shopify):

SMTP

However, it’s pretty easy, and you can manage them along with all your other email templates.

Tip #4: Keep up with your customers via SMS

That’s right—although Sendinblue is primarily for email campaigns, it’s great for multichannel communication.

As such, you can send transactional messages and marketing materials via text to your Shopify store customers.

It’s incredibly easy to do—you can simply purchase SMS credits, for the amount of texts you want to send, per country:

And as you can see, it’s pretty affordable. And because you pay as needed, you’ll never need to worry about being locked into a payment plan that exceeds your means.

Sendinblue Email Plugin: Conclusion

There you have it! Using Sendinblue email plugin for Shopify is a great way of boosting your store management, and most importantly, increasing your sales.

The basic things to do are set-up related: sync contacts, enable tracking, and establish the basic procedure for confirmation emails.

But you can make full use of Sendinblue’s features from here—now you just have your Shopify store to use those features on!

Enjoy!

Virtono Review: Is It the Best Hosting for Your Site?

Founded in 2014, Virtono is quite new to the hosting scene. But their mission to offer high-quality hosting has certainly grown. They’re based in Romania and employ some of the most dynamic and experienced personnel to build a robust infrastructure and assistance.

Virtono homepage

They only offer 2 instances of hosting: Dedicated and Shared. A bit minimal but not a turn off since VPS and WordPress hosting isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. On the plus side, they have VPS in the form of Cloud, Windows, and Dedicated servers.

Now all that sounds good so far but will Virtono hosting be a suitable choice for your website?

Find out what we discovered in our review!

Virtono Review: Uptime

Servers usually work under a lot of load so they often tend to fail or shut down when they reach a certain limit. Another reason could be natural causes or technical issues like power failure causing your website to be shut down temporarily.

Hence, the uptime of your website is everything.

Virtono 24hour uptime

What you see above is our uptime test for a temporary website that we ran on a Virtono server. The 24-hour status shows a 100% consistency but our website was very basic too. Regardless, the response time is lightning fast too.

Virtono 1week uptime

Here’s the status from a week ago. There’s a slight fluctuation but our website is still ahead than most of the competition with a 99.9% uptime and 341ms response.

But how much does 99.98% exactly mean?

Virtono uptime calc

With our Uptime Calculator tool, you can find out the exact downtime values for each day, week, month, and year as you can see above in the stats for 99.98% downtime.

The results pretty much speak for themselves but lightly put: Virtono has great uptime and website response numbers.

Virtono Review: Pricing and Security

For this example, we’ll be going over Virtono’s shared hosting plans due to their popularity among newcomers and experienced users alike.

Virtono plan

Just like how uptime affects your website’s availability, pricing matters to your budget. Most companies also do offer a free plan but the limitations make you consider a paid option.

Hence, VIrtono’s ‘Starter’ plan costs €0.80/month and offers 5GB SSD storage, unlimited databases, and email accounts, an SSL certificate, daily backups, etc. which is enough for a premature blog website.

Plus, you can select a server location between the USA or Romania for all plans.

Then the ‘Basic’ plan comes with 10GB storage and 5 addon domains at €1.60/month. But the ‘Advanced’ offers both unlimited storage and unlimited addon domains along with 150% CPU capacity and a dedicated IP address.

So you’re certainly getting quite a bit of performance and isolated resources.

Then the next 2 plans are self-explanatory with the names: ‘Professional’ and ‘Ultra’. The main differences except the cost are the CPU capacity and the amount of available RAM.

It all depends on what your priority might be. Something like a moderate-level eCommerce website can run fine without any issues but for anything beyond, the Ultra plan should be your choice.

Virtono features

Now, let’s talk about security. Virtono offers 3 instances of security:

SSL Security

Virtono SSL

A necessary website protection measure that comes bundled with every Virtono web hosting plan. SSL stands for Secure Socket Layer which means the connection between you and the website cannot be breached.

The lock icon you may be seeing right now in your URL bar means that the website has SSL protection. It assures security to the user.

However, unlike most companies, Virtono offers 3 types of SSL certificates based on what your priority level might be from basic to business or maximum amount of security.

For example, if your website does not require any sensitive data from the user, you can simply opt for Domain Validation (DV) and if your website deals with checkout information like credit/debit card details then you need Organization Validation (OV).

CodeGuard

Virtono codeguard

Although Virtono daily backups on all their plans, they also offer automated backup in the form of CodeGuard. CodeGuard is an external backup system that could be automated to backup your website in case of an emergency.

You can select the amount of storage that you require and you’ll be charged accordingly. You also get features like one-click restore, malware monitoring, WordPress updates, full automation, and much more.

SiteLock

Virtono sitelock

Apart from the above two options, Virtono offers SiteLock, a global website malware solution that monitors your site for suspicious code or underlying vulnerabilities.

It only protects your website but also the visitors that come to your site while also building trust among users. You can check out their SiteLock plans on their page here.

To sum it up, Virtono is arguably affordable with features that’ll be great for any purpose while also offering extra security options to give you some peace of mind as well.

Virtono Review: Ease of Use

Virtono cpanel

Virtono offers cPanel as the preferred for all client and backend operations. If you don’t know, cPanel is an extremely popular backend application solution, you can read more here.

So at the HomePage, you can virtually find everything from files, backup, billing, email, metrics, security (cPanel security features), software, preferences, and further advanced options.

Virtono cpanel software

Now, the software section here is filled with quite a few handy features like WordPress Manager (provided by Virtono), Cloudflare CDN, site software, and even integration for softaculous.

Virtono cpanel social apps

Speaking of Softaculous, there is also integration for eCommerce platforms like PrestaShop, Joomla, OpenCart, and Magento. So you can get going with any eStore idea instantly.

Virtono cpanel user manager

The other tab is the User Manager tab that displays all the current users on the servers. As you see above, there are 2 active accounts currently. One for general use and the other for logs.

Like the name says, you can add or remove users and configure settings like email and FTP.

Virtono packs cPanel with a lot of commendable features that even new users can have no problems getting around.

Virtono Review: Customer Support

Virtono ticket

On their website, Virtono recommends opening a query ticket from their cPanel homepage. You can go to the Billing & Support section and then click on ‘Open Ticket’.

As you can see from the screenshot above, you can post a ticket related to the subject that you might need help with. For this example, we’ll be selecting the ‘Support’ category for a general query.

Virtono open ticket

So what you see above is our ticket. The name and email address fields were already filled, you can change the department, priority, related service, and also attach additional images.

Virtono email

The reply came under 5 minutes through email which is fast enough. Luckily we were under their permitted hours of support but regardless the answer was straightforward and cleared our doubts.

To say the least, Virtono’s official customer support offers a lot of input for customer query description and has a fast response time.

Virtono Review: Conclusion

Recommending a viable hosting solution could be entirely subjective and involves a lot of other factors that come from your background and environment.

If asked can Virtono be your hosting solution? We can firmly say YES.

It certainly isn’t for everyone. They don’t offer a lot of server locations and some users from the US might feel skeptical investing in a European web hosting company.

But rest assured. Our review analyzed Virtono’s potential to be better in either continent with shared server locations available in both US and Europe.

The uptime numbers look good, security features are tight, you cPanel for easy management, and it all comes in an affordable package.

Now it’s your turn. What do you think about the review? Is there something worth adding? Did you use Virtono yourself? How was your experience? Whatever your thoughts may be, please let us know down in the comments.

THC Servers Review: Is It Fast & Trustworthy Host?

THC Servers is a smaller hosting company, but it’s come a long way since being founded in 2013.

With over 21,000 registered domains and over 15,500 active clients, THC Servers is a success…though still not even close to the big players like GoDaddy or Bluehost.

Of course, that doesn’t mean THC Servers is bad! But it does lead us to the main question:

Is THC Servers a hidden gem that will give you an edge? Or is it not more popular because of some large flaws?

I’ll answer those questions, and more, in this review.

Let’s start off with the positives:

THC Servers Review: Pros

Pro #1: Good performance

Maybe the best indicator of this, is THC Servers’ uptime guarantee.

Most hosting companies will have some sort of uptime guarantee. Usually, this guarantee is 99.9% uptime.

If you’re not familiar with hosting, then that sounds like a fantastic guarantee. But, the way uptime is measured, 99.9% is actually not that great—it’s sort of the bare minimum of “decent” hosting.

Let me show you why—you can use our free uptime calculator to see for yourself:

thc servers-uptime example1

99.9% uptime means 10 minutes of downtime over the course of a week. 99.9% uptime over the course of a month (which is how most uptime guarantees are measured) means 43 minutes of downtime.

For some people, particularly those running hobby sites or unimportant projects, that’s okay. But anyone who’s trying to earn money from their site NEEDS better uptime.

THC Servers’ uptime guarantee is a lot better:

thc servers-uptime

Just adding that extra .09% does a lot:

thc servers-uptime example2

That’s just a few minutes of downtime over the course of a month, which is much better.

And remember, that’s THC Servers’ guaranteed MINIMUM. So most of the time, THC Servers will have better uptime—usually, 100% uptime.

Along with that THC Servers is generally fast—though it’s not the fastest host I’ve used.

So all-together, THC Servers have pretty good performance.

Pro #2: Wide range of hosting products

THC Servers offers the typical range of hosting products: shared web hosting on the more accessible end, dedicated servers on the other end, and VPS and reseller hosting in-between.

But what I really like about THC Servers is that it has more than just the regular range of hosting:

thcservers-hostingtypes

As you can see, THC Servers also provides hosting that’s oriented towards supporting certain kinds of website management software.

WordPress hosting is common, but hosting for the other types of CMS (content management systems) is less common.

These plans are fundamentally the same: they’re basically the web hosting plan, and have similar prices and features.

So in that sense, there’s less variety.

However, the THC Servers’ customer support is trained to provide support for these various content management systems, instead of just regular web hosting support.

Pro #3: Good features

First thing’s first: let’s see what we’re dealing with. These are the web hosting plans:

thc servers-web hosting-features

Now outwardly, the features may not seem all that impressive.

Sure, the basics are there—like SSL, email, etc—but that’s about it.

Well, first, I’d like to note that the website builder is a nice addition, and is not super common on web hosting plans.

Second, let’s take a look at the basic features—these are the features that come with ALL web hosting plans:

thcservers-web hosting-features-basic

Now here’s where things get more interesting.

Of particular note: unlimited bandwidth, daily backups, free SEO tools, and spam filtering are great additions, especially for the lower-cost first and second tiers.

There are some optional add-ons one can purchase:

thc servers-web hosting-add ons

It doesn’t change my overall assessment of the features, as I look mostly at what’s included by default for plans, but it’s nice to have.

Pro #4: Pricing is excellent.

Yep—a double-whammy, in a good way!

First, let me remind you of the price range for the web hosting:

thc servers-web hosting-prices

This is a pretty solid price range. Of course, it shoots up towards the end, but the end is also proportionately featured.

Those first three tiers, however, are all on the cheaper side of average.

Most web hosting plans START at what the “Nerd” tier costs, so the “Geek” tier is great for those who just need a low-cost option.

But it’s the flexibility that I really love about the prices. Most web hosting plans look cheap as advertised, but you have to purchase them in bulk for two years to actually get those prices.

And while committing to two years may be a good deal over time, it can be a lot for smaller businesses to cough up at once, out of pocket.

So the first good point here is that advertised prices are for ONE year of service only—you won’t be tricked into getting a longer-term to get the low cost.

But the other great point is that you have many more options for choosing how much service you want.

Instead of choosing between 1, 2, and 3 years, you can choose at this range:

thc servers-web hosting-prices2

Now, as you can see, it IS more expensive in the long run to pay for shorter commitments. But that’s very normal—I haven’t seen a host that does not do that.

The key point here is that you at least can CHOOSE what’s best for you. If buying a year of hosting for low cost isn’t too much to pay at once, then you can do that.

But if money is tight and you still want a certain tier’s features, or if you don’t want to commit too long, you can pay for just 6 months or even a month at a time.

In addition to flexibility, pricing is just more transparent and lower in the long-run. That’s because most web hosting plans are low-cost the first year, but renew at much higher prices.

It’s why so many companies advertise web hosting that starts at a dollar a month—those plans usually become $7 or $8 after renewal. So they’re not actually that cheap in the past year.

BUT, THC Servers do NOT do that. Renewal prices are the same as your initial prices, unless you upgrade to a higher package.

It’s not just the web hosting plans that have good prices, though.

The WordPress plans ALSO have this same flexibility. The VPS plans are also flexible, though not to the same extent:

vps-price

So all in all:

THC Servers isn’t crazy-cheap, but it IS lower-cost. And best of all, it’s very flexible, allowing customers to pay for plans they wouldn’t be able to otherwise, and keeps prices consistent.

Pro #5: Solid data centers

I should probably sneak in another “pro” here…THC Servers also has data centers in four continents:

thc servers-data center

But more importantly, those data centers are up to speed with their infrastructure and security.

It’s true that I’d like to see more information on these data centers. But, it would seem that THC Servers is at least meeting industry standards.

Pro #6: Good customer support

You can contact representatives via live chat or ticket.

One nice thing about THC Servers’ ticket system is that it’s loosely organized into four categories. So you can send your query to the right support staff immediately:

thc servers-support-ticket

Talking to representatives via live chat is another avenue for support, and it’s pretty reliable:

thc servers-support-chat1thc servers-support-chat2

I was a little annoyed that I had to reiterate the question, but the representative was still very quick to respond once I did:

thc servers-support-chat

Note that my computer’s clock is 3 minutes ahead, so the messages register as 3 minutes old.

In reality, the representative responded to every message I had within a minute.

So the whole interaction in total lasted for maybe a couple minutes—that’s exactly what so many people love about live chat features.

Aside from contacting representatives directly, you can also look at the informational support—basically, the knowledge base:

thc servers-support-knowledge base

I have some issues with it, but I’ll get to that later. Overall, however, the knowledge base is still good for addressing basic questions and troubleshooting.

Anyway, when you put all this together, you get a customer support set-up that’s pretty decent. It may not be seamless, but it’s definitely reliable and of good quality.

THC Servers Review: Cons

Con #1: Web hosting could use more storage

Earlier, I said I was impressed by the web hosting features. That’s still true.

But there’s a caveat—the storage.

Let’s take another look:

thc servers-web hosting-storage focus

With the first tier, it’s pretty obvious that 2GB isn’t a lot of storage space.

But you may argue that the first tier is pretty cheap, so proportionately it’s fine.

I have to responses to that:

First: $1.95 a month may be cheap for hosting, but there ARE plans that go to around that price and offer more storage.

However, I will concede that often, these are plans like GoDaddy’s or IONOS’: dirt-cheap for a year, but expensive upon renewal, to even out at an average price within two years.

But…

Second: even if the storage for the first tier isn’t bad, what about the other three?

The second tier is where most web hosting plans start, in terms of price, so it’s a good point of comparison.

10GB of SSD space for around $4 a month is not that much. There ARE hosts that offer around that much, but I’d think at least 20GB is better, with some hosts offering as much as 50GB.

Now, we have to be reasonable:

When a host offers 50GB of storage for a few bucks a month, how many customers really use all that space?

Most won’t come very close at that price point, as they’re running less intensive sites.

10GB is enough for most small sites to put up a fair amount of media like videos. So I don’t expect this to be a huge issue.

But, if you’re prioritizing value in terms of resources per price, these web hosting plans are worse for storage.

Con #2: Not as good for people who want to double-down on high-end hosting

By high-end, in this instance I’m referring to the premium forms of hosting—mainly VPS and dedicated hosting.

And the key phrase here is “double down.” If you need VPS hosting or dedicated servers in general, THC Servers will be fine.

So this applies for people who want to max out on resources, basically. For example, on the VPS plans, these are the maximum resources you can get:

thc servers-vps specs

The disk space/storage isn’t bad, but the RAM and CPU Cores are a bit limited compared to what some competitors offer.

In this case, 5120 MB translates to just over 5 GB of RAM—whereas most hosts will offer VPS plans with up to 16 or 32 GB of RAM, and more than 8 cores.

That’s just the Linux VPS plans though. THC Servers does have more RAM and Cores available for its Windows VPS plans:

thc servers-vps specs-windows

But as you can see, the storage is a lot lower too.

Additionally, while the VPS and dedicated plans are more customizable RELATIVE to the web hosting-based plans, they’re not as customizable as some rival companies’ plans.

Not to mention, other companies also have newer hosting solutions, like cloud-based VPS or cloud-dedicated servers.

As for dedicated servers—THC Servers is pretty okay. The only real complaint I have is that most of the servers don’t go beyond 4 cores—and the max you can get is 16.

Anyway, just to make sure we’re on the same page:

I’m not saying that THC Servers have bad VPS or dedicated plans.

In general, they’re solid—they have a nice price range, including more affordable options (relatively speaking).

But people who need support for very intensive projects or websites may want to consider more advanced options.

Con #3: Informational support can be unorganized

For the most part, the informational support is just fine. The knowledge base may not have a ton of articles, but it still covers some of the basics.

But did you know that there’s actually a blog?

This blog has more than just typical hosting/tech company marketing fluff.

It has how-to tutorials and further explanations that should be in the main support page:

thc servers-support-blog

Most of this stuff is old—late 2018ish. But despite the age, some things are covered that are NOT covered in the knowledge base.

To make matters more frustrating, sometimes knowledge base articles simply tell you to go to a blog post:

thc servers-support-blog link

By the way, the blog post linked to in that article above? It doesn’t even explain that well to beginners.

There’s even a bit of text below the table for the resource limits of the hosting plans that tells readers to contact customer support via live chat/ticket if they don’t understand what the numbers mean.

That’s just one example, but it goes to show the flaws in the informational customer support.

Like I’ve said, the informational support is overall okay. However, it definitely lacks in certain ways.

THC Servers Review: Do we recommend THC Servers?

Is THC Servers going to be for everyone?

No, of course not—no company is.

But is THC Servers a good choice for many of you reading this?

Definitely.

Basically, if you prioritize the best support ever (and specifically onsite information), having advanced VPS/dedicated plans, or having the most amount of storage per price on the web hosting plans, then THC Servers isn’t the best pick for you.

But outside of that, THC Servers does very well in key areas:

It’s got good performance with a high uptime guarantee. The prices are low, flexible, and consistent—meaning no extra renewal costs. The features aren’t crazy, but they’re pretty good, especially for the price.

These key things make it pretty clear to me that THC Servers offers great value web hosting, and can support customers with more advanced needs as well.

So yes, for most of you, THC Servers is solid!

But don’t take my word for it. Try it yourself, risk-free, to find out:
